You’re thinking ‘Democrats,’ aren’t you? Think again. The biggest losers are a] the mainstream [“legacy”] media and b] those who believe it’s fair and balanced. It is not. Never has been.

It’s so noticeable today because it is more obvious — and thanks to the Internet — people now have access to many different points of view. Yes, it’s confusing as hell but this is why is so important to employ common sense and critical thinking.

Once again, the major news organizations in the US took sides when covering the election. That’s called election interference. Think about it. When the media interferes with the election process, we ALL lose.

Time and time again, once respected print, TV and radio outlets propped up Joe Biden and Kamala Harris … while attacking and censoring their opponent, Donald Trump.

That was wrong.

No matter what one thinks of Trump, the man deserves a fair hearing. In the end, the flamboyant former TV ‘personality’ posted a solid win. Apparently, his flaws did not turn off all voters.

Let’s get one thing straight. It is NOT the media’s job to take sides in elections, nor to endorse anyone. Quite the opposite. It’s the media’s responsibility in fact to remain neutral and to fairly and accurately present key elements of a story so that viewers, listeners and readers can make informed decisions.

This all sounds easy, I know. Truth is, it’s extremely difficult — if not impossible — life being what it is.

How bad is it when former Whitehouse Communications Directors jump to reporting jobs at major media outlets? Their partisanship reveals the bias of their new employer. Tell me, how can that be good for journalism and for society?

The result is that so many have lost faith in the traditional media, and you can’t blame them.

To some extent, we’re all being brainwashed by the media. The key is to seek out alternative sources [including podcasts] and find different points of view. There’s a lot out there on the Internet. And if you find yourself wondering what is factual and what’s opinion on the ‘net, good. Just apply the same critical thinking when dealing with the legacy media. You might be surprised.

The bottom line is that we no longer know who to trust and what to believe. Isn’t it sad that things have gotten to that?

One of the major news channels in Canada recently broadcast a story that focused on what Kamala Harris needed to do to win the Presidency. Fair enough. But missing from the newscast was an item on what Donald Trump needed to do to win.

That was rotten journalism, pure and simple.

The issue isn’t whether one likes or dislikes Ms. Harris or Mr. Trump. The issue is fairness and integrity. Without that, the media has zero credibility. It is no mystery why the legacy media has become a propaganda organ for those with power and money — Government, Big Pharma or the Deep State. Take your pick.

It’s well and good for news organizations to report on scandals, but if they choose to primarily report on the failings [and perceived failings] of one candidate, it’s wrong. It’s also hugely destructive. The bottom line is that without healthy media we’re all in big trouble.

The mainstream media in Canada is now on welfare. Read that again. The legacy media now receive hundreds of millions of dollars from the Federal Government to keep from going under. What this means is, they’re no longer independent. Let that sink in.

Trusting traditional media for balanced coverage is much like getting financial advice from a chronic welfare recipient.

These crippled news organizations know where their bread is buttered and it shows in their coverage.

Examples of Biased Reporting …

There are so many examples of journalism that went sideways, but I’ll just stick to a few to make a point.

On the eve of the 2020 election [won by Joe Biden and the Democrats] — Canada’s national broadcaster, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation [CBC], aired a nationwide radio show where listeners were encouraged to call and share their thoughts.

The show had a special in-studio guest. However, the guest was far from being neutral. He was not a political scientist, nor a journalist, but the former US Ambassador to Canada under Barack Obama’s administration. Like, what? Who the hell at the CBC thought that was a good choice?

Right then and there, I could see that our journalistic standards had taken a dive. What happened to the CBC’s Code of Ethics? When I was a CBC reporter — we’re talking 1980s and 90s here — this would have NEVER happened because journalists would have screamed blue murder.

A huge scandal, initially ignored by most media companies, was the infamous Hunter Biden laptop story. We now know about the explicit sexual content and Hunter’s cocaine problem  … and, how Hunter’s father — then Vice President of the United States — was getting a 10 percent kickback from Hunter’s overseas business deals. That’s supposed to be illegal.

A group of FBI agents quickly issued a statement saying the laptop story was Russian disinformation. And most [but not all] media companies parroted the FBI tale. They bought into the lie because they wanted to protect Joe Biden. Here’s your Vaseline, boys. These jokers weren’t bulldogs, they were lapdogs.

A hat-tip to the New York Post for breaking the story — and for printing photos of the disgraced agents. As far as I could tell, none of the agents ate prison food.

The truth about the ‘laptop from hell’ was deliberately censored to protect Biden and the Democrats. Had the computer been owned by Donald Trump’s son, it would have been a much different story. This was an example of selective, biased journalism … eyes wide open when dealing with one person, yet eyes closed when dealing with another. The political party someone belongs to shouldn’t decide on the quality of news coverage.

Speaking of jokes, late-night comedy shows in the US are now totally political. They too sheltered Mr. Biden, yet went full-bore with anything that hurt Donald Trump’s credibility, starting with fake impeachments, and a bizarre allegation that Trump raped a woman decades earlier in — of all places — a change room at a store in New York. This was the same woman who also claimed to have been raped by more than half a dozen men. Like that makes sense.

A statute of limitations was conveniently amended to allow for charges to be filed. That’s selective prosecution. So much for people in New York State having faith in their judicial system. Prosecutors didn’t hide the fact they wanted to get Trump. This was a case of flagrant partisan prosecution. These judicial clowns should be stocking shelves at Walmart.

The head of news for CNN once said the same thing to an undercover reporter with Project Veritas. The media executive confessed that his mission was to get rid of Donald Trump. Again, a reporter’s job is not to ‘get’ anyone. Surprisingly, the news boss wasn’t shown the door. He held on to his job because those on the ladder above him were likely just as sleazy.

Here’s the one that got me. Donald Trump was accused of not liking foreigners [although he married one] and he was accused of being “racist” because he opposed illegal immigration.

I can’t help but wonder how many Americans voted for Trump — not because they ignored his flaws — but because they were sick and tired of media hit-jobs. They not only voted the Democrats out but the legacy media as well. They/them lost.

Election Interference?

If these figures are accurate it’s hard to argue that the legacy media took the high road.

PROMISES, PROMISES

Unless the next assassination attempt is successful, Donald J. Trump is scheduled to be sworn in as the next President of the United States in January 2025.

Trump will have his work cut out for him. He made many election promises and the world will be watching to see if he keeps his word. Good luck to him. Populist movements are all well and good but keep in mind that talk is cheap. We should know — within a year at the latest — if the system is still rigged.

Just an aside here, I would not count out the ‘Deep State.’ People with money have power.

And let’s hope the mainstream media can tone down — perhaps eliminate completely? — its bias. The world is watching that too.

The light has been switched on, and the cockroaches have begun to scatter. We’ll see where all this goes. Hang on.

  1. Good article. Would have liked to see an analysis of all main stream media ouitlets, to see how they covered Trump and Harris, positive and negative. I totally agree with you, that the news should give both sides of the stories, only proven facts, thank you.

And they should get rid of all the talking heads who try to convince us how we should interpret the news. I think the problem has gotten out of control, where the audience only wants to hear a one sided story:  ie:  rump supporters listen to Fox and Newmax and other conservative media outlets:   whereas the Liberals (Democrats) want to hear only positive news to their way of thinking.

  2. Thank you Byron, you have expressed what many of us feel and experience. Thank you for putting it in words that we may say, yes, to. Walton

  3. Well said. It almost appeared that the news was representing one party or the other.

I never expected in my lifetime to see it become so blatant. It appears no one is keeping the news honest anymore.

It is difficult to make any responsible decision based on news info.

  4. I agree 100% to what you’re saying about the News media … and to be honest, I don’t believe or listen to the Canadian news media either! If I hear anything, I take it with a grain of salt . . . and actually get the Canadian news from The Epoch Times.

  5. Agreed. The news was our reliable resource to collect and report, to us, only the facts (not the opinions of the reporter or network) and from those facts, establish our own opinion.

Now that it’s acceptable for networks and/or reporters to influence the viewers with their personal opinions and agendas, is it any wonder why it’s so easy for all to flood all types of media with misinformation and lies.

We get opinions mixed with facts, lies and half truths. Integrity is no longer a priority to the media networks/reporters of this day. We can turn on Entertainment Tonight or read

The Enquirer and be more confident with the integrity of their content than we can on those that are expected to provide us only the facts so that we can make informed opinions and decisions for ourselves with confidence.

Where is it we go now for the facts? We are still a democracy, aren’t we? Since when has it become acceptable to lie and deceive without consequence? And without deep personal shame for their actions?! So, integrity is no longer the most important character trait that a great majority of us strive for? 🤔
